this might sound like a really stupid question but i am wondering on how to measure for what size of a fly sheet to get my horse. the flies have never been that bad so i've never had to worry about it before but this year they're really bad.

yeah, i dont think its any different than measuring for a blanket. i have a couple questions. they dont make em sweat a lot (if at all), do they? and on a thin skinned horse, how can you prevent rubs. if this summer is gonna be bad, i may get a fly sheet for my horse. but im worried that itll rub him like his fly mask does (i try to do it so that its on for a few days, and off for a few). hes on field board, thats why i worry about those things.

Whether it rubs or not depends on the horse and the sheet. I never use one without shoulder gussets that come high. And whether it gets hot, it depends on the horse, your climate, and the material and weave of the sheet. Lighter colors reflect more light, so a white sheet will be cooler than the equivalent green one. One made of stiffer material, like a Rambo, will tend to "tent" instead of drape over the horse, leaving more room for air circulation and therefore be cooler.
