Flax Seed..Anyone use it or heard of it?

Hey

I just got back from our "horsey" store here in Barbados and the lady there was showing me a product they just brought in called Flax seed. She said it's great for conditioning, etc.

Anyone here ever use it or heard about it before I spend the money?

i use it - i love the stuff - heres a bunch of info on it- if you want to check it out. I use it more during the winter but on some i use it year round-

I use in conjunction with black oil sunflower seeds. My horses have blindingly shiney coats and great hooves.

I use it along with sunflower seeds also. Not only does it make shinney coats and healthy feet, but it supports the immune system and greatly increases the health of the horse. It also addresses inflammation and I have seen horses that could barely walk because of arthritis start running and bucking after just a couple of weeks on flax. It is a geat overall health enhancer.

Have used it for years. The Flax has all the Omega 3 Fatty Acids while the Black Oil carries the 6's and 9's. Perfect combo for immune, hair, hooves, joints, etc.

Also makes for some very pretty manure piles! *VBG*

My horse gets it daily. I have always had a hard time finding a site that would tell me how much to feed though.
One 2000 lb horse is currently getting 1/2 cup per day

Flaxseed is good for horses who cannot maintain wieght on hay / grass diet. It is a natural fat supplement.

I feed ground flax seed to all of mine. Although after reading drafts post, I am not quite sure I am feeding enough of it

I only feed 4TB per day...
