| Senior Member | First Saddles Just wondering.... when did you get your first saddle and was it for a horse you'd recently bought or for lessons? what did you look for when getting that saddle (besides price)? And finally, who advised you in the purchase? i'm searching for my first saddle, but i don't want to buy anything until my trainer returns from georgia to okay it for me! |

| Senior Member+ | When I first got horses a custom made english saddle was made for me. My trainer reccomended them. It was garunetted to fit and I new next to nothing about saddles. It ended up being $1000. But in the meantime I needed a saddle so I got a western saddle from my trainer. And then another. One was $200 and the other $450 (the synthetic). by the time the custom was made I was converted to western riding. Then I got a Stubben. Oh and a fixer uper saddle. Then I bought my show saddle and another english saddle. Then a western saddle and another english. And next I'm getting an aussie saddle (undecided) to ride in until I can save up for a nice all around saddle Cheaper English saddle bought for price. It was only $15 The custom english saddle bought because I knew nothing about saddles and it would fit Another english saddle bought for price (only $25) Western saddle bought because I needed something to ride in while saving for an all round saddle. Thought it would fit but didn't (for sale for $200) Project saddle bought for price and I needed a project to work on Western saddle bought to ride in from trainer while custom was being made Another bought while custom was being made (for sle $350) Show saddle bought because I really coundn't show in a synthetic saddle anymore Stubben ummm..... it was REALLY cheap My next Purchase (or something similar)

| Senior Member+ | My mom bought me my first saddle from a friend. It wasnt the nicest, but it worked until Sage outgrew it. I still have it hoping to be able to use it on another horse someday. Its so lightweight and it would be great for training, barrels, or trails.

| Senior Member+ | Mine was a Wintec 500 AP. I wanted something easy to care for, something that fitted of course, and something I could do everything in. The saddler recommended it, saying it was the cheapest of the good quality lot. My next is a dressage, my instructor helped a little with that.

| Senior Member+ | I got my first saddle when I got my first pony about 6 or 7 years ago. It was just a cheap indian leather saddle and it came with a bridle and saddle blanket. It wasnt the best or flashiest saddle but it fitted both me and the horse. I think we sold it when we sold my pony.
