Val, (my cousin) did great on him. She's been begging for a month to get up on him. She's been breaking Drafts.. so, she felt very comfortable on the ol' 14.2hander...Romeo is very catty, and quick like a cutter should be, but he's not explosive.. (at least not yet) Dave was coaxing him with the lunge whip to get him to move...We are in the very early stages of his training...

Twister with his halter on for the first time.

Weston had fun playing with Twister for awhile this afternoon. They're so fun to watch when they're this little!!

I'm a bit confused. I've always been taught that roans are born with the white hairs in their coat and do not whiten further as they age. But that would make your colt a chestnut and not a roan so does the roaning actually come through after the first shed? I'm guessing mom is tested homozygous for roaning which is why you're so sure he's gonna be roan. Just curious we've never had a roan baby.
He's a lovely little dude btw, that face marking is very unusual indeed.

The pictures aren't picking up his roaning, maybe i'll run out to the barn quick to try and get one for you. He has definite roaning on his hips and rear end. We'll try and get one for ya.

Ah I see, so just waiting for his first shed as to see HOW roan he will be then?
Also out of interest does anyone know what happens when a horse get a roan gene AND a creme gene? does the creme gene just override the roan?

Roans change colors constantly. My bay roan mare turns white in the winter and a deep red in the summer. She was born a bay with no roaning. We didn't know she was a roan until we clipped her...
