Post First Aid Kit contents?

I have been looking for one of these lists so feel free to add your thoughts/comments/suggestions for those who want to make a First Aid kit.

So for me I would probably say you need:

-Bute
-Dipyrone
-stethoscope
-needles/ syringes (sterile!)
-Vet wrap / gauze
-Betadine
-thermometer
-911 #'s
I can't think of anything else ATM.
Anyone else?

here is a few more..

antibacterial wash,
cloths,
towels,
syringe and old worming paste syringes..(but cleaned)...great when you need to get your horse to take things orally.
disposable nappies or ladies pads.....great for absorbing blood.

I would have to go through my kit and look and come back. But I think short of any major injury I could cover almost any injury. I will still look and see what is in it.

Rather than nitrofurazone, a plain triple antibiotic should be in a first aid kit. It is appropriate for the vast majority of wounds and doesn't slow wound healing nor is is carcinogenic. Nitrofurazone has been proven to do both of those.

I would also not use wonder dust. These caustic powders that are marketed for use on proud flesh are non-specific at the types of tissues that they target and damage normal, healthy healing tissues just like they do proud flesh. And while they are sometimes recommended to stop bleeding, they still damage tissues and slow healing so you are better off simply using direct pressure or a bandage to stop bleeding.
