Well you have to remember one thing... her base is black therefore the cream is NOT going to make her lighter. You would only know by testing. That was the same with my friends multi-gened gelding.

Remember allbreed had buckskin/dun listed as one color? I made them change it LOL. When they changed it all horses who were listed as buckskin/dun became buckskin unless someone went back and manually switched them to dun....

From the stally's site:

We think his genotype is EE /Aa /Dd/ LPlp/ PATNpatn
Homozygous Black, carries one copy of Dun and one copy of Agouti
The Agouti gene he has is not the bright bay, but the brown bay.
He probably carries some other color modifier the dilutes to a bright tan color

I thought that if she already had dun and you added a cream to that, it would lighten the color more? I could be wrong though.

Nope I know several smoky grullos that look almost black... I will have to see if I can find the photos. I have grullos without the cream that are lighter.

Grand Design her sire is a guaranteed Dun. He's produced another dun foal from a bay/dark brown mare.

He sure didn't get that from momma
http://www.designsporthorse.com/Hors...l%20100806.jpg

Neither did this filly.

And yes there is notes as to DNA testing.
Quote:
DNA tested Homozygous Black EE At/a

She will be DNA tested to see if she is EE or A
And here is a photo of that same said mare as a foal. Obviously grulla then.

Additionally Grand Design's dam traces back to Bright eyes brother so there is a definately dun lineage in his pedigree.
