Yup exactly...the dam is misregistered. Maids Dream was a chestnut and that is for sure. But that only applies to the yearling not this year's filly.

Fair Charles sire Prince Charles was a definate chestnut (he's also in the pedigree of my mare super). Granted Fair Charles dam was listed as a bay, But she's a heterozygous bay because her sire was also a chestnut. Fair charles was a line Bred Prince Plaudit horse with alot of chestnut lines behind him. However he's the only link to a potential bay line in there because Goer is also a chestnut.

Maids Dream is also obviously a chestnut

so that only leaves the mare who could have had a mis registered ancester.
But the question is which ancester is the mis-registered one since BOTH Fair Charles AND Kenny's Krumpet have a brown or bay parent.

I know that was totally OT but I had to

Not really Haas. Thats all it really could be, and still be "surprising."

Well I have seen it before... that is why I was sure what color it might be... I have a friend that has a Tobiano, splash, frame, sabino, smoky black with LP gelding... Wow you want to talk about going through the color wheel as he grew up... Unfortunately she sold him... so I have no current photos.

Yeah he even had a mock champagne color for awhile... There was also a chance that he was carrying the silver gene... but that tested negative... so someone really tried to pack a lot into one foal. I will have to see if I can find those photos...

Best photo I could get of a bucking, running foal...think I caught her during a rollback with me perched up ontop of the corral, lol.

This is how dark the mare usually is in outside light.

This year is the first time she has not been stalled for the majority of the day and has fadded enough.

I didn't get a chance to get her cleaned up to take a picture but I will try to get it tomorrow. Nothing shows through all the dirt she seems to think is fashionable to wear.
