| Senior Member | Find a Stud ![]() I'm looking for a cremello stud either in the area or AI for this mare /\ (who is rapidly approaching likely mine!). She is an Anglo-Hispano, and I would like a registerable, cremello, jumper/hunter prospect foal. or: Quote:
It's very important to me that although this foal is sort of a "project" that they be a very high quality animal as there is no point in breeding for the sake of breeding. Nes. Last edited by Nes; 10-09-2005 at 07:56 PM. Reason: I get too excited and forget things - she's a lusitanoX :D | |

If the mare is a registered pure Lusitano why not breed her to another Lusitano/Andalusian? Lusitanos can jump!!!...have you not heard of the Luso stallion Novilheiro?

which one!! there are SOOO many to choose from!! I'm considering all lusitanos, andalusion, thoroughbred, warmblood, sportpony suggestions and stallions The only thing I would balk at is a quarter horse or paint - they are beautiful animals in there own right but I think I would prefer a lighter coloured, and more... I donno, sporty, foal at least as her first babe for me. I found this beautiful lipizzaner, but I was concerned he is too heavy for what I am trying to bred for: http://www.equine.com/stallions/dsho...horseid=794554 nes. |

The best thing to do is to not limit yourself to stallion just in your area. Your country maybe, but not just those around you...unless you happen to live near numerous breeders of top Andalusians. I would look on the IALHA Website at their list of breeders and start my search there:IALHA Breeders I would visit as many of them as possible and make sure to take along excellent conformation photos of the mare as well as an extended pedigree as possible...at least 5 generations. I would look at the stallions and talk to the owners about what you are hoping to produce using this mare.

That pedigree is no help. The ad says she is Veiga though. Do you know anything about the Veiga bloodlines? In all honesty I seriously would look more into this more...you just do NOT find a quality purebred Luso mare at that price. Bargains like that just do not stay on the web for long...most registered Luso/Andi mares sell for $12,000 (US) A few for $10,000..the really young ones maybe for $8,000....NEVER for $2,500! I would have to question why this mare is $2,500. That is too cheap...PERIOD!

I've been looking for the stallion all over the web and have been unable to find any information about him, I doubt the owner will be able to be any more detailed on the mare's pedigree until I can talk to herin person. I'm fine with importing the good stuff as long as it's not going to be overly expensive, i'm striving for under $1000 so I can pay for it myself Feel like going thru the IALHA site and finding me the perfect cremello boyfriend for her?/rofl - I do appreciate the link though Sandra especially since this is all your faul for introducing me to Mr. Pogue and his pretty animals!!! Who's work, btw, made me decide to start raising my own little babe You're a homewreker ms. sandra!!! you're a homewreker /rofl I know that she is not a VERY high quality animal - in fact she's at this price because she is a broodmare alone (current pelvic injury, a bad bump to the head and a pulled suspensory in her younger days - all of which is non-genetic and which the owner has been very upfront about), her offspring are unproved (and in some cases, unbroke - but beautiful) - however her conformation is such that I feel she would produce a very fine athelete for me. She's certainly not going to give me the next Novil. that's why I'm looking at the less expensive stallions. Nes. |

I really am sorry...I do not intend to crush your dreams...but you really need to check this horse out. I would wonder why she is not selling this mare for more? I do not care how desperate she might be. If the mare is breeding problem free and is a registered purebred Lusitano Mare...then the owner would be able to sell her for a LOT more, with no problem, to any Andalusian/Lusitano breeder in the USA & Canada. Something just isn't right....a purebred Lusitano Mare (of color) for only $2,500......why????
