finally in foal vet wants me to give Prestige?

I haven't heard this before..I know all about the rhino shots, but he said about giving this also. Does anyone know what he is talking about? I am going to look it up, but if someone else already knows it will give me a head start! Also, what do you do about the rhino if your mares are a month apart? can you just split the difference, or do you need to make sure they are perfectly on schedule for that? I would have asked him more, but I don't have electric, and he doesn't have a batt operated ultrasound...I had a half mile hike up the side of a mountain in 90 degree weather on my mind.

Yep, we use Prestige V (5). It's a great vaccine (at least we haven't had any problems with it and it's affordable). We usually don't vaccinate for Rhino during pregnancy, just 2x a year. Haven't had a problem with anything yet, but if you are going to do the shots on the 5,7,9 sched. go with that on each mare. Better to make extra trips than to have it off what is the norm., especially if you breeding contract specifies limitations on the vaccination of the mare at that time.

Thanks. So its just a brand name for the rhino shot? or is it totally seperate? My neighbor gets a lot of rescue horses, and I am taking my little boy to shows, so he thinks it is pretty important for my mares to be up-to-date. I kinda think he wants me to buy this and give it myself. I hate giving shots.
