Field Boots or Dress Boots? The Boot Debate

So I have always had field boots but now I am buying new semi custom boots and I was wondering which is prefered in th ehunter ring, field boots or dress boots? Or which would look better on someone with short legs with large calves lol thats why I haev to order semi customs, my calves have muscled up and are larger than life! I need to quit walking so they go back to being untoned and skinnier lol. Anyhow what do you guys think?

Dress boot and Field boot. The one on the left is the dress boot. The field boot has laces

Field boots are proper for hunter. Technically, dress boots are from Dressage. I show in dress boots tho... lol Shhh..don't tell. I wouldn't be able to get away with it in the rated circuit tho....

Thanks What, can they eliminate you for wearing the wrong type of boots? What do a few laces matter? What if you ride both dressage and hunter, do you have to have two pairs of boots?

for what i know, its rare to see dress boots in the hunter ring. i've seen them in the jumper ring, yes, but not really in the hunters. that's not to say that people NEVER wear them, and if they do, the judge shouldn't take off or add any points for it. it's really more the aesthetics about the boots.

i have custom Vogel field boots (i bought them used, i dont have that kinda money!!!!) and i love them to death. i know that for me, i have a SUPERRRR narrow ankle, and the fact that i cant draw the boots in by tying them makes them fit a LOT better.

Definitely field boots for hunter.

Who are you ordering your semi-customs through? You may want to avoid a seller named "theleatherboutique.com" / diaz. They're affordably priced custom boots on ebay but the ones I got were TOTAL junk. Never broke in even though they looked ready for the trash can after 6 months. Bleeding feet at a horse show is not fun! They're just really badly made out of low quality materials, I think. Just wanted to warn you!

Last year showing I used my dress boots doing hunters. I didnt get points knocked or a comment at all. I dont really see why you need to get two diff kinds if you do both dressage and hunters. WOW one has laces and one doesnt.. who really cares. I sure as well dont. Im gonna gonna pay like 400 just to get two pairs of boots.
