Field boot HELP - PLEASE!

Alright, I'm at my wits end, here.

Trying to find a new pair of field boots. Mine have been with me for about 10 years now...time to retire them. They're falling apart, as it is.

Problem is....I can't find boots to fit me. I'm not a huge person, I just have massive calves, I guess.

Here's my measurements - do any of you have any suggestions on where to find an off-the-shelf boot to fit me?

Height: 15.5"
Width [over breeches]: 16 1/4"
Shoe size: 9-9.5 [US size]

I really, REALLY wanted a pair of the Ariat Challenges....but I guess that's not gonna happen.
I need a GOOD pair of boots - I don't mind paying a bit more. These babies are gonna have to put up with HEAVY showing/riding, so they MUST be well made.

Hahaha, thanks. Yes, I'm pulling my hair out about this. I may just have to suck it up and go custom.

Okay, has anyone ever done this?

Bought a pair of boots and had a zipper/elastic added?

My boots have a zipper in the back. You could just buy them in your size and width and then get them cut down from a specialist.

I have added gussets..

But Erica, your best bet may be
Getting the tops cut off..
Easier than you think..

Devon-Aire has tons of sizes..
You may find the width ,
Then have to get the tops re done..

Try ..

Check the close outs as well ..

This place is not far from me..
They are delightful to deal with.

You may want to try , boys or mens boots as well..
Again, they are a bit higher, but...
That is easy to fix..

Good luck,
Paula

I had to have elastic added to mine and a friend of mine had to have elastic added to hers as well. My only word of caution on having that done is be sure the person you have doing it will do a good job and not make the boots so big that they look stupid on your calf. Been there, done that. I'm definitely finding someone else next time to do mine....or I'll try to do them myself.

I bought mine from horse-rider... great customer service, reasonable price for schooling boots.

Thanks, Paula - I can always count on you for horsie help!!!

I REALLY like the sound of the TallyHo boots. I wonder if they're as nice as say, Ariats?

This "getting the tops cut off" scares me. Where would I go to have that done? I'm having scary visions of boots coming back botched!
