it's not that these things are superior to a ration balancer- it's more like they compliment it beautifully. I have mine on Purina's Born to Win (want to switch to TC's but at the moment...it's as good as I can do...) and supplement all of them with rice bran, BOSS and beet pulp. My skinny one gets alfalfa cubes to help her gain weight.

They are all shiny, happy, healthy and I could not ask for more!!

When I first got Folly, my project, her gut was so torn up that she had the runs all the time, so I had to take her off of EVERYTHING and feed her JUST hay and water for a while. She was so malnurished that her cuts would heal slowly, and she couldn't regrow hair over them. She had a dull and lazy look to her eye. Her coat was REALLY dull and starting to fall OUT! yikes! I pumped her full of BtW (I won't say how much...let's just say I was OVER the recommended amount for alittle while.... ) and in no time flat did her coat start shining up, she began growing fur over her scrapes and bumps. The rain rot dissapeared, her eyes *sparkle* . She's a different pony now.

Try a ration balancer. You will know if you need to supplement it with anything else.~Brit

Thank you both for your suggestions!
