what to feed my new 2 yr old gelding???

I just got a new 2 yr old paint gelding. His former owner had him on hay and HFHF twice a day so that's what I have him in now (except he has free access to hay now). He is 15.2 and growing and I would like to have him on a good feed program without him being too hot. He is outdoors 24/7.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should be feeding him?

Have you looked into an RB?

Thanks,

I was thinking about putting him on a RB. My underweight TB mare did great when I had her on Gro N Win. So maybe I will try that. My new guy is in great shape and well muscled so I would like to keep it that way.

I cannot get Nutrena here. We only have 2 feed stores in our area and they don't carry that brand.

Oh and he has free access to a salt lick.

Him keeping muscle tone is going to be both work and diet

I like the concept of RBs though 2 of mine recently switched off their RB and back onto their TC Complete with an added vitamin/mineral supplement and additional supplements.

I can't say I'm a huge Nutrena fan (although I'd feed it before most Purina feeds if I had to..maybe). I haven't looked into the Compete (and I can't find an ingredient list on Nutrena's website *which bothers me*) but I've never been satisfied with the levels Nutrena has in their feed, nor some of their ingredients.

I do have access the buckeye feeds and think I will go with the gro n win.

I haven't been working him hard, only riding him lightly since he is going through a growth spurt right now and I don't want to push him. But he does get plently of exercise running around out in the field.
