| Senior Member+ | Feed Guru's....feed causing gas?
If you had a horse that you suspected was getting gassy cause of their feed, what would you change too? What in the feed would cause it? Its Strategy. And she is out on good grass 24/7. She gets 4# twice daily of the Strategy and she is a 1000# mare. I will explain more later, but I have to run now. Jessie |

I would say that if she is out on good grass 24/7 that she doesn't need grain. It could even be all the grass that is making her gassy. Seems like people are going to low carb grains these days. Hopefully some experts will share their knowledge. I don't feed grain at all.

I would take her off grain and put her on a forage base as a general starting point. I would probably put her only on grass and/or hay for a week, then add in one feedstuff at a time. Probably beginning with a ration balancer. Then building on that as needed. Giving each feedstuff a period of at least 1-2 weeks before adding in another feedstuff. That way you will be able to pinpoint any particular feedstuff that is causing problems.
