Talking farmlife lol

Well,I live on a chicken farm where we raise 80,000 broilers. I have been helping in them since I was about 8 years old. It's pretty stinky, especially if your not used to the smell. The daily chores are to pick up all the dead chickens, which ranges from 5 to 500 dead daily in each house. We usually have more dead when they are chicks, because of tranmsport and all that stuff. We keep the chickens 8-9 weeks and the goal is to get them to put on about 7 lbs per bird. There are grow hormones and drugs in the feed, because naturally, the birds would never get that big that fast.
There are also about 15 cows on the farm, but only one is mine,Sissy.I raised her on a bottle There are only 4 horses on the farm, which, altogether is about 300 acres, with a 60 acre lake right below the house. When we get rid of chickens and the litter is cleaned out we ride the horses inside, the closest thing to an indoor arena we have lol!
Nothing much happens,we do the same routine over and over. Calving season is fun, because I get to keep an eye out on all the cows and help if they have problems. I get first dibs to bottle raise the orphans too

Oh yeah, when I was about 7 we got a baby pig to fatten and then later eat, which nobody told me!! But I got attached, named him Wilbur. That pig would get out of his pen,go in the yard and lay down by the front porch! I always went out and would sit on him and kick his sides until he got up then he would walk around with me on his back.he was huge then, but so gentle.I guess he was my first "horse"lol.

I live on a really small farm. We used to have very large amounts of goats and sheep but they were attacked by neighboring dobermans (sp?). So now there arent as many. The goats have little baby goats (kids) that are soooo cute! We used to have an EVIl pig. gingersnaps2002 you are lucky! lol She used to sneak up on me when i was little and chase me out of the paddock. hehe We also have some chickens and 2 horses and 1 pony.

my parents have a dairy farm they have over 300 acres and rent the fields around them for pasture and hay. they have between 60-70 dairy cows at any time, mostly holstiens, but usually some jerseys, jerseyxs and a milking shorthorn cross named blue (there's been 3 blue's so far, mother daughter and granddaughter), theres chicken, sometimes pigs ( the last pigs just took up residence in the freezer), 3 bunnys and 16 horses right now with one more foal due this yr

I have a nine acre farm, 9 horses will hopefully be ten after one of the mares ultrasounds, 3 dogs plus 6 newly born puppies. We had a chicken, but the dogs liked it too much. We have three fish and one frog with several outdoor animals, frogs, snakes... We are thinking about getting two pigmy goats. Not sure though. We love our farm!!!
