Lightbulb Fake Tail Reminder

Don't forget if you put in a fake tail to low, when your horse backs up they might step on it and then it will fall out! I like a safe length is just above the fetlocks or even at them.

I saw someone I know have their horses' fake tail fall out because it was to low [the horse backed on it] at the Paint World Show. They ended up placing good though.

Hahaha, that must have been embarassing. Luck for me, I do jumpers & have no use for a fake tail.

I've seen a saddlebreds 'tail' come out, because somehow it got caught on the rail in the arena and pulled right out. That would be a little embarrassing!

Mine slipped out at my first AQHA show, but thankfully it was in warm-up. It actually isnt all that embarrassing because everyone knows its just something that happens every now and then, lol.

^^True
mine has not fallen out yet *koncks on wood*
I am not to happy with mine it is very long and full (to full)- hits about right at the fetlocks.

I was at a show recently and it happened to a girl in the showmanship class. She had a very nice pattern and was turned out well (I placed her higher than the judge did) but I think the tail hurt her b/c i guess it is a "part" of grooming.

I've seen a few come out, as well.

I need to buy Anna one. Not for shows, but because she only has about half of her natural tail bone, and hardly any tail whatsoever due to a bacteria.

Why didn't I think of a fake tail sooner?! LOL

Another idea... once the tail is in safely, then wrap electrical tape around it and part of the horse's natural tail. No now if they raise their real tail, the fake will follow.

I always an able to put mine in very tight.
That may work with some colors of tails but b/c the tape is wide it may show in light colored tails or thin tails. Maybe you could do it with vet wrap the color of the tail idk?!

Oh yeah... maybe cut the vet wrap in half in a white or tan color for sorrels, palominos, greys, etc.

My friend who told me this has a bay horse, and I have a fake tail for my bay horse. Completely forgot about lighter colors.
