Has anyone participated in; or plan to participate in this year? If so what was your experience?

I keep telling my BO she should do this. She just has a way with horses.

I went to Midwest Horse Fair in Wisconsin last April and watched the Extreme Mustang Makeover. It was really fun to watch. It's amazing to see what the mustangs can do after a short time of training.

Kinda seems more like they're looking for who can train the best trick pony.

At first, I kind of liked the idea, but now that you mention it, it does kind of seem that way, huh?

Certainly what it seemed like from the video clip I watched on the website. I would otherwise be interested in it, but I'm not a trick trainer.

My Trainer, Matt Sheridan, participated in the Sacramento one last year. He and his mustang, Luna, came in third. It was alot of work and chances are good you'll not see much return on your time, but he enjoyed the experience and has done various Mustang events with her at the request of the BLM and/or the Mustang Heritage foundation. You can see some video I took of Luna and him during the competition and after on YouTube (search either my name "kewpalace" or his "Matt Sheridan"). There are a few pix in the HGS Gallery of them, too.

His Brother, Joel, is doing the Sacramento one this year. Matt said they were going to do 50 horses/trainers (last year they had 32), but they did not get that many applications. Don't know how much they'll actually end up with. Will be interesting to see where he'll place!
