| Senior Member+ | extra long trailer ties?
I just got my new trailer, and realized i now need longer trailer ties. one because my pony is too small to reach a normal length one without hyper extending his neck but where can i find an extra long one? i was thinking about just putting two together, but that just doesn't sound too safe to me. if i could get one in hot pink and one in bright blue that would be AMAZING, but FAR FAR FAR from necessary. I just need two longer than average trailer ties. or what else could i use instead of them?

you can always put in new rings, lower.....large washers, ring bolt and a nut......

As far as a new tie - what about Dover? I thought I saw that they had a couple...

I'm not sure. I've just always tied with their leadropes, never a trailer tie. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have always tied the trailer tie to the trailer ring with bailing twine so that the twine will break incase something were to happen. If you do this you can just use more bailing twine to make the trailer tie longer for the pony. I can take pictures of how I tie it so it makes a loop off of the trailer ring if you need them.

If you can't find them in stock somewhere, I can probably have them custom made for you.

I've been eyeballing these for awhile - it apparently adjusts from 2 to 4 feet in length: http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.h...2-00b0d0204ae5 I've been using two trailer ties together for almost a year (I trailer at least once a week) and have had no problems at all... but my mare is disgustingly good in the trailer. A crosstie was just too long, which is why I went back to two trailer ties. More people must have been asking for longer lengths because I'm seeing more and more 3 to 4 foot trailer ties in catalogs in the last few months. |
