how do you make a horse do an extended trot? snickers does it nicely when i lunge her but i can never really seem to get her to do it when im on her back. i can make her do it but when i do she ends up going really fast. how do i slow it down?what are the correct cue's you are supposed to do? any help would be great. thanks

Well, I assume you mean "lengthened" trot. Extended trot is an upper level dressage movement. You need to be able to have an adjustable trot. On the long wall, ask her for a little bit more trot, but keep contact with her mouth as well so she doesn't pop above the bit and get strung out. The trot WILL get faster, but your posting should stay pretty much the same rythm. Then when you come to the corner, ask her to come back to a working trot. You can play within the three speeds, collected, working, and lengthened. At first you probebly won't feel tons of difference between them, but nothing comes naturally over night, you have to work on it like everything else. DL? Did I say this right?
