Question Expressions Of Interest (Sale) - Critique & Opinions

Hi guys i was wondering if you could please critique my add and my horse, I love my horse so much but due to my sickness last year, and now VCE commitments this year I am unable to commit to Latina as she needs a bit of re-education (as she will be getting within a week or so) though i would like comments on the add and my horse to see what you think...

For Potential Sale -

1996 16.1hh Thoroughbred Mare was out of work for nearly twelve months due to riders ill health, well nurtured, in great condition. Was competing grade 3 pony club, very affectionate horse, thrives on human companionship.
Can get strong on the ground at shows but she is a pleasure to ride, has never refused in show jumping and performs at Prelim level dressage. Currently being re-trained as picked up on some naughty habits after having a year off. She is Australian StudBook Registered and has thrown a foal in 2001 to an Irish Sport Horse Stallion.
She is fantastic to catch, wash and shoe, sometimes she is hesitant in getting into the float, though once she is on she transports brilliantly. Has kept condition stable and well in the past two years I have owned her. I am her second riding owner & her original owner had her for approx seven years living in brilliant conditions.
Her only real vices are that she spooks sometimes, though she was green when I bought her two years ago, and was just getting used to the new sights and sounds, she has never taken off on me. And she also dislikes water, though with training that can be overcome.
In all honesty I love this mare so much, I am only selling her as I have year 12 this year and she was hardly ridden last year it is not fair on her to leave her for another year. For sale to experienced rider though would be suitable for a novice once in proper work.
Comes with bridle & some rugs
$3000neg

PS: That is the add i plan on using could you please critique my horse and tell me if you think she is worth this.

I'm sorry to hear you have to sell her but Im sure you only have her best interests at heart.

Firstly, Im glad you were so honest in your ad. I hate it when people only say the few good things about the horse and you either waste a call or petrol and time to see it before realising its not suitable for you.

I think the price you are asking is good, they will probably bargain you down a bit though.

I've always loved Latina and I'll be sad to see her go. You guys made a great team too and you made so much progress on her.

First of all your ad is brilliant, I feel like I know the horse and all his vices before even inquiring, so thats def a plus.

Personally I would have put him up for around $4000, then put the price down to $3000 for a buyer. We always put our horses up for $1000 extra because these days you can barely sell a horse without knocking the price down, even when you have a fat "FIRM" slapped on the tag.

Good luck selling I know you're in VIC but if I come across anyone looking for something similar I will let you know if you don't mind selling to NSW.

I have to say that I found the ad confusing. I couldn't quite figure out how long it's been since she's been back to work and when she had time off.
I wouldn't put that she has picked up naughty habits after a year off. I would just put "retraining due to time off" all horses need a bit of training after time off. naughty habits make me think bucking or rearing or something bad.
the 'has kkept condition stable and well' has thrown me off too. if I understand the ad correctly (again it's hard to understand) she had last year mostly off so then she most likely lost muscle which to me is not keeping her condition up to par.

Good luck in selling her

Hey there thanks for the critique on the add.. Especially with the condition one, i should have put good paddock condition. As thats what i pretty much meant, like she's not skin and bones though she's had time off she's in good condition considering (i.e well fed).
Thank u for the pointers!

Thank you so so much i thoroughly appreciate it, she's a lovely horse I love her with all my heart, i haven't stopped cryin just thinking about it and she's still in my paddock!
She reminds me so much of Crunchie you see...Which is why it's so hard, i mean the fact that i bought her after crunchie based on crunchie's behaviour is why it's so hard. It's so hard to come to terms with the fact that she isnt crunchie and wont ever be

When I list a horse for sale I never put their faults in writing... unless they are a cribber. I usually put no vices, and 100% sound (as long as thats the truth).

You may want to ommit some of the faults, and add that she needs to restarted due to time off...I wouldnt mention her not liking to get on the float... just that she's a good shipper, and try to work on loading her if you can before selling.

After you have some interest, then it's okay to say that she doesnt like water, people will be more apt to deal with that after they've fallen in love with your beautiful mare!

I'm sorry to hear that you have to sell your dear mare. She surely is goregous.

I think it is GOOD that you have faults in there, so people know what theyre coming to look at. I think you will acutally have more bites that way, because we all know most horses have something.

Once again, I'm sorry you have to sell her. I'm sure you will find a wonderful home for her
