Actually for equine trace mineral loose salt....that 'ain't' that pricey.

I believe Dynamite trace mineral salt sells for almost sixty bucks.

I think I paid around $50 for my last bucket of Dynamite Trace minerals, but I am a dealer so I pay less than retail.

The Truth on Trace Minerals (above)

http://www.admani.com/AllianceEquine/ProVitaMinTub.htm <--This is what i use when feeding "medium quality hay" this year, as reccomended by my feed specialist, everything seems to be going great thus far. And I can pick up one of these 100lb tubs for under 40$ (wholesale is $33.00)

We use the DAC Broodmare for all our kids (including the boys). A less expensive option on it from DAC would be their Direct Action. 50 pounds is a 400 day supply and runs just under $60.

Probably the link above addressed this....
If you are comparing to the standard mineral block that you get at the farm store....there is no comparison. Most mineral blocks are geared for "all stock" consumption...with low levels of everything. They do not meet the needs of a horse and are generally 90% or more salt. This loose mineral/salt has very good levels of copper and zinc...two of the most lacking minerals in horse diets. You are paying for what you are getting.

I have found that horses eat the tubs like candy... which is understandable. They smell, and are textured like it...

Well, when i first put one of these out, my 4 had it GONE in about 8 days, so i put another one out, and it's been almost 3 weeks, and there is still some left, usually when you feed free choice mineral they'll eat what they 'think' they need and their bodies tell them they're lacking, after the first gorging, they slow down quite a bit..

However, I have also used the Grow Strong loose mineral, and it runs about 15$ a bag wholesale (25lb) I just like the tubs better because all horses have different nutritional needs, and i know they're getting the amt they need by giving a free choice tub.
