Dilute's... It appears Palomino in this case of this filly, do have eye's that are light to blue'ish in color when born. I have many photo's of our Palomino foals over the past two years with their blue eyes, and the color change in between to when they change to brown. Cool though all the same.

Because the sire (Who is Bay) is not a dilute himself your Filly only can carry one dilute gene which she got from her palomino mom. Her sire gave the red (chestnut) gene, which means he is Heterozygous black, he could be either heterozygous or homozygous agouti, we don't know for sure. If he gave your filly the black gene then we wouldn't have a palomino filly. I don't know his agouti status because even if he was homozygous agouti and gave it to your palomino filly it won't show until she has offspring that exibit's big E (black) via their sire. We know agouti does not show on red based horses.. only black based whether hetero or homozygous black.

Her Mom could give nothing but a red gene. With you giving me the information on her parents that make's Sheba ee Crcr. She carries one copy of the creme gene hence why she is a palomino. Sheba's dad gave her a red gene. Her mom even though a Buckskin gave her a red gene, could of given her a agouti gene, but once again we don't know without testing or unless Sheba is bred perferably to a black stallion who gives her black based offspring upon which she may or may not give the agouti gene to. If she was homozygous Agouti she would never produce a black foal but instead buckskin's or bay's. (obviously there are other variations but I don't want to get to in depth)

So you have a Filly who is ee Crcr.. as to her agouti status, which only matter's if she is bred down the road she could possibly carry one copy of the agouti gene or it is even possible for her to carry two copies. However, basically in the end you have yourself a very nice Palomino filly.

Pink skin, or mottled like skin goes hand in hand with Pali too. But sorry as she cannot be Cremello with her parents being what they are. Her mane and tail will lighten out over the next month or so.

Yah! So glad everything went well and both Mom and Baby are healthy. That is the most important thing right!? On to the other threads of awaiting babies, plus my own girl who I swear intends to stay pregnant forever!

you were lucky to get a palomino and a filly from an accidental mating, but that's always the way. If you purposely breed chances are you won't get the sex or colour you were hoping for, i beleive her eyes will change colour most human babies are born with dark blue eyes and they soon change.
