How did your chiro determine that your horse had parasites? And what kind does he supposedly have that panacure given twice two days apart will cure?

You are so right, Spryo1, I need to write down everything - My brain is such mush anyway just from over a month worth of worry! Thanks!

My sweet husband is driving Shay down. I am following in my car. We will stay the night and meet with vets Wednesday morning. I plan to "hang around" and meet with them again at the end of the day to get whatever they have discovered or are considering etc.

I am glad you are going to get him to the vet school soon. I don't think I could handle it if my horse was going through the same thing.
It seems you have done everything for this poor guy and I hope that this time they can find the problem and cure it!
Best of luck to you and Shay!

Interestingly enough that if his problem is this leaky gut syndrome - guess what makes it worse??? Yep you guessed it...antibiotics, Bute, steroids...just what we have been pumping him with. This is so depressing.
You said lately, he had also been nipping at his belly? Wow i have no idea what in the world is going on. When i first read that he was starting to go to his belly, i though it must be spreading...but what would be spreading?

Also does he have his spasms when hes tied? Has he tried to laydown before? Maybe you could call your vet or something and see if he has something you can give him for the drive, just in case he has a spasm in the trailer, not being able to nip at it might make him even more stressed. Also you mentioned that he like to drink water, is there a way that you could put water in the trailer for him if he does have a spasm/attack?

I can't imagine how much this has affected you. It must be REALLY hard to see him in pain, and after 3 vets you have no answer, wow i would be very stressed. Stay strong though, for shay, lol make the doctors tell you! I have been having medical issues latelly and they can't seem to figure what it is, its very annoying because u think to yourself, these people are TRAINED for this!!!Why don't they have an answer?!?!?!? But sadly they don't have the answers to everything, but stay strong and have a safe trip on Wednesday!

I am just seeing this thread. It looks like he is getting tingly like shocks or something like that. I hope the trailer ride went O.K. I was wondering how he would manage that with being tied. I hope you found some answers today. He is a gorgeous horse BTW.
