| Senior Member+ | Eventing Colors? So I here alot of talk about eventing colors and "ooooooo, Fluffy looks so *cute* in hot magenta and neon gween!" If there any point to them though? My first event is coming up and I would prefer to be "in the loop."

| Senior Member+ | Well... some do it to stand out on course. Often you are way far away and sometimes having a bright color (like red, or blue, or even neon orange I've seen I do it just to look neat. When everything is in a color tone (even if it's subdued like mine, which is black and hunter green) it just looks nice. Though, a lot of more professional riders tend to opt for just black and white with maybe color trimmed here and there. It's really up to you what color you want! You can go with your barn colors, your favorite color, or a color that looks good on your horse. Though.... IMO, there IS a line when it goes over the top... like, umm... lets put it this way, there is color coordination, and then there is color confusion... and that's when it gets a little tacky.

| Senior Member | Most of the eventers I know have "colors" or are color cordinated. I use red and black for my horses. It is definetly easier to spot someone on the x-country course when they have bright colors on vrs plain black jacket tan breeches! Here is my horse and I in our outfit. ![]()

| Senior Member+ | Loved the name fluffy lol I should name my next horse that! That, or monster When I evented I really liked cordinating colors, I thought it made us stand out from others. However, I HATED the obnoxious neon pink and oranges, or whatever color it was lol. I like to keep my vision in tact Many riders cordinate to some degree, but it's really just a personal preference Best of luck at your first event! You're going to do amazing!

| Senior Member+ | Advantages: It's fun, you're coordinated (and not just wearing whatever), it helps you stand out to friends/announcer, and it makes it easier to pick out your pics from thumbnails once event photos are posted! Disadvantages: Some people don't like it. Who cares about them, anyway? I know of a girl out here (girl--ha, she's certainly older than me, and I'm pushing 30) who competes at Intermediate. Her horse is grayed out, and she uses hot pink and neon blue. It looks really good on them, and she has fun with it! Unless you're on a team, why not? And even top eventers have colors--Bruce Davidson is red with yellow, the O'Connors wear blue, and Phillip Dutton wears blue and white. While they aren't as bright as the neons, they do coordinate to some degree. Personally, I use red and black. Red gloves, shirt, saddle pad, and vetrap to hold in velcro on boots. Black breeches, vest, and electrical tape strips over the velcro. It just so happens my bat is even red and black, as is my bridle (black with red padding on the browband)--both of those were gifts from people unaware of my colors. I'm not personally a fan of neon colors, but I don't have a problem with it (as long as it's reasonable--I really don't like vetraped breastplates, stirrup pads, and diagonally color-coordinated boots--but again, that's my personal preference). For a more "professional" look, I would change the saddle pad to either black or white and/or change the vetrap on the boots to black (with red or black electrical tape), but why not have fun? Like I said, it makes it easier to pick out the thumbnails! Besides, I'm NOT a professional. Even if I were, I would still want to wear some colors. Being nicely groomed, having a horse in good weight, and having safe habits are more important, IMO. I don't like to look tacky, but everyone's definition of tacky is different. I DO think dirty stuff is unprofessional. I have heard some snooty comments about colors, but they usually come from people at Training/Prelim. We aren't pros, we're wannabes. It doesn't make people sound professional to bash people for colors. I ignore those people and do what makes me happy. I will add that picking simple colors like red, blue, or green makes it easier to find things in the right color. Just something to consider.

| Full Member | I don't think there is anything wrong with bright colors(ok neon orange is a bit much). I personally have purple as my eventing colors. I own: rubber reins, vet wrap, front & hind boots, bell boots, saddle pad, gloves, vest, polo & crop in a nice darker lavender shade.

| Senior Member+ | Coordinating colors is ok, but a LOT of people go over the top. I saw a girl on a gray horse where EVERYTHING was neon green--boots, saddle pad, vest, helmet cover, vet wrap on stirrups, even the HORSE! (Yup--she dyed his mane and tail neon green then wrote the horse's name on his rump in neon green paint.) YUCK!

| Senior Member | Personally If I were eventing i would go with either red and blue on my grey or red and white. Both look excellent on her and make her stand out.
