Depends on what school you go to. You don't have to do that with the school I go to.

A vet? oh boy! I was hoping this profession didnt deal with needles or knives, hehe. I can do it if thats what it takes though. I am going to learn to give my horse her vaccinations next time they are due(my mom is a nurse, hehe
Where is there a school in the US?

I was told that the only other school that has a course even remotely similar to this one is on the East Coast. We have a student coming from as far as southern california to take this program. We don't deal with needles or anything like that

So with sports therapy, do you keep the horses at the barn and do treatments and swimming, ect, there? Or does the owner haul in and out as needed excpet for bad cases that need more time on them and intensive treatment? HOw does that work?

Well, it varies on a therapist to therapist basis. What I am currently doing (while I am in school) is traveling to other peoples barns and working on the horses there for an hour or so at a time. I am currently only doing massage and saddle fitting though.

Eventually I plan to open my own clinic. I plan to have a pool, and other treatment tools at my place. Depending on the situation I would either have the owner haul the horse in or board it with me for the duration of the time it needs to be treated. For me, this is a few years down the line though.

Well I have not done much advertising at all - it's all been word of mouth at this point. So far I'm doing probably 5 horses a week. I could be doing a LOT more if I wanted to but I simply don't have time. One of the girls I'm going to school with has had herself booked up and did 30 horses in 4 days at one point.
