You are a very "pretty" rider.

The first thing that I noticed is how you came into that first jump. If I were you, I'd come to that jump from the inside, not off the rail. It looks a bit sloppy and is a hard way to approach, if you came off the inside, but making your opening around those inside jumps, it would have been much smoother rather than fighting your horse. Personally, I dont like that the course designer made that your first jump in the hunter ring.

Equitation wise, I'd like to see your step into your heel a bit more. You rode this course like a hunter rider, light half seat, allowing the horse do the work and you just guide him. Also, hold your two point a little bit longer, youre not snapping back, but youre coming down a little bit quick. I love your quiet hands and nice upper body. I'd love to see you jump higher to really see your potential. =)

Your horse has a lot of potential and so do you. To truly excel in the hunters, he needs to carry himself a little bit better, but if this was the baby greens, you must have pinned well in this class. And given the shooting, your horse is an angel. Very pretty to look at too !

Btw, is he a Storm Cat baby? If so, I have a grandbaby from him. I personally love the horses he throws. =)

Thanks so much! Hahaha I must say, no one has ever called my horse an angel before! Haha he can be quite the handful at times, most of the time, but he's only been undresaddle for a little over 2 years now, and its been very inconsistent with a very bad start.

Yes he is a storm cat grandson. His daddy is tomorrows cat. He definitely got his granddady's attitude. I have met my fair share of storm cat babies, and he has topped the majority of them in rankness at times. However, he is also one of the most loving and attached horses I have ever had or met.

Our normal division is baby greens. This course however was a challenge classic type thing. We only did it so he could get in a different ring that day for mileage purposes.

That kind of explains the course, although I must say it was kinda awkward to ride.

Such a cutie. You look tiny up there! I loved his cadence around the course. He seems eager, honest to the jumps, and from what I understand, you really have come a long way with this gelding. Kudos for sticking with it.
Here's what I saw: you warned us about the right lead, so I looked at that. He's throwing his right shoulder in on you, hence the head to the outside around corners. At home, work on him at a walk, trot and finally a canter on bending to the right. Really concentrate on getting him off your right leg and paying attention to an indirect right rein. You should see improvement in the course overall if you get him going consistently like this.
I liked his ablility (and yours) to see a distance. I see you going far with this gelding. Do you have a trainer you are currently working with to help you with all of this?

Yes when I got him he was a mess. You could barely get a bridle on him and he had an attitude problem as well as a very immature mind.

I am working with a trainer very consistently now. He is actually at her place for the winter. He actually has lovely latteral work and is really supple both directions. Its just getting his right lead when he doesn't want to. We are certainly working on it, and its about 70% of the time now. Just every once and a while he has a little relapse as we call it
