English/Western Saddle Sizes?

I know Western Saddle sizes, but how do you know what size English saddle to buy. Like, I use a 15 1/2 inch western, what size would I want to buy in English?

are they not similar at all then in english i have both a 15 an a 17"

i think it depends how big your bum is but normally when buying them you can have a sit on them to try them

English is generally 2" larger than western. An English saddle you measure diagonally from the "button" on the side of the pommel (front) to the middle of the cantle (back).

So, if you ride in a 15" western, you'd need a 17" English. But, English saddles can have different types of seats. I like a dressage saddle 1/2" larger than a flatter AP saddle. Sit in a few to see what you like best.

My western saddle is a 15" my cutback english saddle is a 21" and my new (used) All Purpose saddle I just bought is a 16.5", but its a little big. I am 106 pounds and 5'5. My but is pretty small too LOL!!!! So I think I should have got a 16" all purpose saddle.

Hope that helps a bit
