Umm, measuring a horse is the same no matter what saddle you decide to ride in. A hand is 4 inches, always, for every horse and every pony.

I think uk started using centimetres instead of hands. so 150cm is like 15hh. I think thats the way it is. i talk in hands though.

Hey, I heard 1 hand=4 inches was the width of the palm of a king (not sure which one). Anyhoo, "don't go metric on us now; you'll really mess us up!" LOL! Maybe horses & Hands should be english only, like the airline industry is. Or come up with a metric equivalent,The Euro-hand? Hypothetically: Imagine buying a hunter/jumper unseen, measured in metric, and watching aghast as a Mini is unloaded in your lot! 17.0h vs 170cm, & watch the 'fun'! Yikes!

Yes, however speaking in hands, inches, or centimeters has nothing to do with what DISIPLINE you choose. An inch, is an inch, is an inch.

Perhaps your trainer mentioned that there are different ways to measure the TACK. The points where the measurements are taken on the western saddle are slightly different than that of the english saddle.
