English Showmannship. Halter VS. bridle

Which do you think looks better for shows. I've always just used my hunt bridle but I've noticed that some people use a plain leather halter with a lead and chain just like Western showmanship. Please vote and I'd love some reasoning as to why you think one is better than the other. Thanks in advance.

In led classes I just use a bridle but then I hardly ever do them. If I was doing them properly I would use an in hand bridle.

This is Led Classes in Australia though.

Whats the difference between english showmanship and western?

Basically the difference is the outfit. Western you use western outfits and usually you use a halter with lots of silver. English you can either use a huntbridle or you can use a plain halter.

I also believe that western you have to pivot on the back hoof, english I think you're supposed to pivot on the forehand.

English you also pivot on the hind end. Showmanship is the same for both (at least stock breeds). I've been told by judges the only judging difference will come down to a tie and it will be determined by a more "huntery" looking horse with turnouts in braids instead of bands and if the person "showed off" their horses trot throughout the pattern.

Yeah I never knew for sure about the pivot I just was using it as an excuse because last year my horse couldn't pivot. He's slowly figuring it out now so he'll be rockin for next year. I've been told he looks like a huntery type horse when I have him all braided up and he has this cute floaty trot for his in hand classes....unless is SUPER early then he's like me kind of sleep showing

I don't do Showmanship or any in-hand classes but a bridle presents a MUCH better picture and I believe is what should be done..

I find it easier to use a leather halter and chain because it has the same feel for me and the horse than the western. Up until recently, I always used a halter, but now I will be using a bridle because it is more proper and for quarter horse that is what you are supposed to use.

The difference between English and western showmanship is for English you are supposed to have braids instead of bands and you are supplosed to show off at a real trot not a jog.
