english saddles - which one?????

Hello. I am in the market for an english saddle for schooling/showing locally. i am in a quandry as to what type to buy. The kind of showing i do is just local shows doing english pleasure type of showing, but i also want to maybe able to do a dressage type of thing maybe. i also may want to jump a jump or two (when i take my brave pills!!!).. so my question is. as i can only buy one type of english saddle.should i buy an all purpose or a dressage saddle?

any opinions???

thanks.

All purpose with straighter flaps sounds like a good choice =)
Do you have a trainer or someone who could help you?

If you don't, feel free to pm me and I can help you pick one out that will suit your needs =)

yes i was thinking all purpose for sure, but then my trainer/coach lady said something like you cant do hunter in a dressage saddle, or vice versa, and now i'm not sure...kinda like you cant cross enter a class...so i dunno...

If you want to pop a few fences and do Dressage at lower levels then an AP is the thing to get.

If you are looking for an inexpensive saddle but not 'cardboard' - look at the Regent saddles at www.saddleshop.com . I have an older Regent dressage saddle and I love it. A friend has the Regent TC Eventing Saddle and likes it a lot.

I would go with an AP saddle. Many people show lower level Dressage in AP saddles with no problem, and they are find for jumping up to 2'6". Go with a good used brand, like Stubben, Crosby, Courbette, Passier, etc. Cheaper AP saddles are more likely to be unbalanced and put you in a poor position.

I would get a dressage saddle, they are ok for very small jumps and the best thing for flat work, I am getting a kieffer and they are really good, bates and wintec are also good.
