Well, I just don't trust people very often. Not people online anyways. Lol

So a cutback saddle would be best. National Bridle Shop. I'll look there.

Another style saddle you might want to consider is the Buena Vista:

Quote:
The Buena Vista Plantation Saddle was first saddle marketed for Gaited Horses was introduced In the late 1800's.

The Plantation saddle is so named because it was primarily used by the Southern Plantation owner's that had to ride long distances comfortably while checking their vast land holdings typically on Gaited Horses.

They are ocassionally offered for sale on Ebay so you can check there too.

Sandra I like those saddles! Are they only for gaited horses?

I have to clear up something about ebay. I still buy from there and my other two saddles are from their. But its the no-name, cheap ones I stay way from now.

I actually love ebay.

Good luck! It took us forever to get a saddle we liked for our gaited horse.

National Bridle is great! I've bought a lot there and never been disapointed. Customer service is wonderful too.

I love Ebay. And yes, buyer beware. Ebay don't sell live animals.

No saddle is really exclusively for a specific breed or even riding style.
Yes, when it comes to showing there are certain saddle used for certain classes/events, but when it comes to casual pleasure/trail riding the rider uses what fits their horse and they like riding in best.
Around here when trail riding you see different breeds, gaits...and style saddles being used.

Duett makes the Tango and the Bravo designed for gaited horses. I own a Duett Companion trail saddle and it is well made and comfortable. Nancy Temple at Duett and Trumbull Mtn. are very easy to work and will answer emails with questions or suggestions.

The saddles are part way down both pages.

I ride in an Albion Dressage saddle - one for each horse - my big TWH has a wide tree and my smaller Racking horse has a Med tree. The TWH mare I sold went with an Albion Dressage also - and the owner who rides miles and miles loves it too!

I like the dressage saddles personally - because the straight leg doesn't interfere with their laid back shoulder and big stride. I had them professionally fit to all 3 horses -bought used - $350-1000.
I showed rail classes in them, trail obstacle & dressage and now only trail ride & I do the steepest mountains, cross rivers, etc. I consider them incredibly comfortable (I have a bad back & old knees) and very stable. Sometimes I throw a breastcollar on.

I don't think gaited horses are built that much different than regular horses (where the saddle goes, that is) - each is an individual on shape - so a "gaited" saddle isn't necessarily going to fit your gaited horse, but I do like the Tuckers, Crest Ridge, Steele, Stubben, etc.

I also like the buena vista plantation saddles and did a lot of research on them when I was looking for a new saddle for my gaited horse. The ones I liked the best were the Eli Miller/Henry Miller saddles. You might want to research them a little.

I ended up buying an Australian poley saddle and am very pleased with the fit and comfort for both horse and rider.
