Red face English Saddle pads

I have never had choice on what kind of english equipment to use.. So i just used whatever was given to me. I made a post a while ago about the english saddle I want to get. I get to buy it at the end of november.

So i was just wondering that kind of english saddle pad would be best? Ive seen people use the following....

1. square work saddle pad
2.Shaped fleece
3. shaped foam
4. Foam ontop of the work pad
5. A white fleece pad on top of the other work saddle pad

Im just so confused.. Which would be best to use ? a riser pad ? a wither relief pad? A plain waffe square one ?

Only use as much pad as you need to. My mare requires a Simple square work pad. Our Anglo Arab gelding requires a work pad that is fleece lined underneath (we're still building up top line muscle, he's only 4). See how the saddle fits. If it fits your mare perfectly, use a simple fleece or work pad. Too much padding can cause the saddle to pinch and cause pain. If the saddle fits the withers well, but sits a tad too low behind, use a riser pad. If your mare is like mine and is in between saddle sizes, make sure you have a saddle that is just a tad too wide (sits a bit low on the withers). Use a front riser pad to fix that.

The best thing though is to find a saddle that fits your horse perfectly! Have your trainer and/or vet evaluate your saddle to make sure it fits your girl.

For my mare, I bought a saddle that was a bit too wide and had a saddler put in more wool to make the saddle fit her just right.

i think it depends on the horse an where you live i mean poly pads are good but can make your horse sweaty if youlive in a hot area

i would just go for a simple plain saddle cloth (the square shaped ones) thats what i use an fint them great!

I use a Fleeceworks half pad with a regular square pad underneath. I know many people who use Equigel pads, and they are also great. You can find those pretty inexpensive.

Saddle Pads

You shouldnt reed a riser or anything unless your horses back needs it. You should probably be able to use any of the ones you questioned, but it depends if you are going to show etc. If you are going to show you'll want a shaped fleece.
