English Girths

How do you measure your horse to know what size Eng. Girth he needs?

I don't ever measure I just try one and decide how much bigger/smaller would be more ideal for the horse and the saddle.

Put the saddle on the horse, measure from the 2nd hole of the billet one one side around to the 2nd hole on the other side. That will give you a starting point. You might be able to go a little shorter, but what you don't want to end up with is having it difficult to get one side of the girth even to the first hole, and you certainly don't want it to be in it's tightest position while on the first hole of either side.

Your final measurement will also depend somewhat on whether it's a single elastic end or double (or none!). A double elastic end can often be one size smaller since there's more stretch, but just know it's easier to over-tighten a double-end elastic girth.

Thank you so much. That was very clear and seems easy enough. Thanks again!

I dont measure, but I had a pretty good idea when I bought my girth.

I would ask to borrow someones girth (keep in mind they will stretch out a little) and see how it fits. You can always return un-used girths =D
