English Girths...

Just a quick question-what type of girth do you prefer? Material and brand wise. i.e. do you like neoprene? Or fleece? Or leather? Or whatever other there is. I have to buy an english girth and I don't know which one.

Thanks!
CR

i like leather ones. i had a fleece lined one before. it was nice, but it didnt LOOK nice. not that i showed when i was using it. i used it when i was like 10. and i had a neoprene type chafeless one after that. ive been looking at the ones in Dover lately. specifically this one:

I like leather ones and would much rather have one rather than a fleece or neoprene. But this is by far my all time favourite girth (and is available in english, dressage, and western). Though it is made of 'neoprene' it's very different from the traditional neoprene girths.

I love leather.....but thats cuz I'm a bit of a traditionalist too. I just don't like the look of neoprene or fuzzy girths.
I have a havanna colored overlay girth (so it looks almost like a solid piece, instead of fancy stitching down the middle). It has elastic on one end and solid on the other. Its also contoured so its more comfy. I can't remember what brand it is, but its a nice one and I"ve had it for years....using it everyday on at least 2 horses and showing.

I love the professionals choice girths. Saddles tend to slip on my mare because of her build, but they keep them nice and centered without me having to have them done up too tight, and they're wonderfully easy to clean.

No specific opinion, but just a reminder, it's best to get a girth with elastic ends!!

My mare galls with neoprene and leather, but fleece girths end up looking dirty quick. So, I light leather and use a real sheepskin girth cover.

I LOVE the thorowgood neoprene girth, I have one in a 60 inch for my mare and we have at least 5 more for the lesson horses. Elastic on one end, rollers on both buckles, easy to wash, and only $40
