Embarassing Stud problem......

My 4 yr old QH stud runs with the mares, every other day, or at least a few times a week, and is in a stall next to them, with eye contact touch etc.
Due to a weak back leg, I'm not sure he's really suceeded in covering them til he ejaculated, but I'm assuming that there is some sperm being released even before ejaculation.
In short, in the 1 1/2 yr I've had him, no one is preggies, now he's covered my welsh pony around 3 months ago, and I'm hoping that at least he suceeded with her seing she's not tall and balance shouldn't have been an issue.
I'm aware of ultrasounding as a test, by why isn't anyone coming into heat again, actually not true one of the 4 mares I'm hoping for is in heat religiously and loudly, no doubt about. Shouldn't the girls be yelling and squirting occasionally at least??? One might be too old, fair enough, but the others? I'm afraid they're "disrespecting" him and reacting to him like a girl friend, any thoughts??

Have you ever hand bred him? Sometimes having them in a herd situation will keep anyone from getting bred. It is really better to wait until you know a mare is in heat and then hand breed her. In the herd situation no one may get bred due to jealousy on the mares part. Lets say a mare thinks that is her man... she is not in heat but another mare is... so any time that mare tries to get his attention the other mare will run the mare in heat off... the stallion wants no part of the mare fight so he retreats to his corner and says the heck with the mare deal... too much drama.

First problem, after initial attempts excepting that one mare, no one shows signs of heat, and the other mares didn't get involved, only my camel, so when he was getting romantic, I wouldn't let her out with them cause she'd chase him around. He's kind of "gentle" and instead of giving her the boots did give up and went to find something tastey to munch instead.
I have taken him in hand, but am lazy about it and rather he move his booty and do some work, actually the girls all stood nicely for him when they did show heat, but now like I say no one shows interest. Anymore thoughts?

Then how do you know that they are not bred? Is it winter where you are?

We're starting summer. The last time he was active was around last april with the big mares and a few months ago with the welsh.

I won't til we get results, and I didn't really think to get him tested. He's been kind of disappointing, since his leg injury doesn't leave him 100% and that was over a year of treatments with operations etc etc. He's lovely, beautiful in look and disposition, but his movement may never be or most likely will never be better than 60 % of what it should have been. I don't see putting more cash in him and I'm hoping that lightning hasn't struck twice with him, I mean to be sterile in adition to a bit limpy,...... that's too much for me. I figured he'd be active and then I'd get results or wouldn't, but the mares aren't even interested except for the one, so what does that mean??

It is really hard to say... My guess is too much togetherness... they just see him as one of the herd not a stallion... LOL
