Easyboots??...Shoes???...HELP!!!!

My horse Lacey has really tender feet when it comes to walking on gravel and pavement. I would get shoes on her but she kicks at other horses sometimes and so i bought easyboots. But Lacey would forge her back feet and step on the back of the easyboot, pulling them off. I don't know what to do so please help!!!....I have considered getting easyboot epic's with the gater but i don't want to spend the money if their not going to help.

umm I would suggest the new easy boot epics, and it appears you already know about them. Their new design has a covering over the heel so a horse that forges will not rip them off. Also, I would not suggest shoes if she kicks and also some horses feet are not built for shoes. Meaning they not be strong enough like if they have a crack or just aren't strong in general but otherwise ultimately the decision is up to you.

i use easyboots myself and i find them to work quite well. i reccommend them but it depends on how severely your horse forges

If she is that tender walking on gravel AND pavement, and really is in danger of pulling front boots off, there is a good possibility both problems are created by long toes.

Can you post pictures of her feet?

her toes arent abnormally long, their average, i even asked the farier what the problem could be, but he said that some horses just forge and there's nothing i can do about it. I don't have pic's of her feet, but if anything her front feet are a bit longer than the back.

"average" length? What is short for my horse might be long for yours.

Forging is rarely normal for a horse. Conformational issues such as a short back and long legs can predispose a horse to forging naturally.

Try something, just to see: Measure the length of her front toes, from the coronet band to the end, right down the middle of the front. Do the same for the hinds. Let me know what those measurements are.

There have been a lot of threads on this lately. I suggest the Old Mac boots if you are going to use boots. I've had great luck with them. The Boas are nice too, but I prefer Old Macs.
