Using your hands is always good Do you mean which braid TYPE is easiest? Or whether using bands or sewing them is easier? lol You'll have to be more specific...

Bands are easiest but sewing is neater. Bands do for most shows. I plait up the hair wrap the band around once, fold the hair twice and make two more wraps with the band to secure it. This is much much quicker than using two bands and will hold tight, try it.

As a professional braider at one time, I will tell you that banding is easier (and somewhat faster), but sewing in braids is really the only way to go - sewn in and sprayed down. Bands loosen and break. You could do a combo approach is good if you're just starting out. Braid each piece all the way to the end, and then end it with a band. Then go back with needle and thread and sew it in. that way you don't lose the taut braid as you're learning how to tie it off with thread. |

Banding is easier, but unfortunately, sewing is better. I normally have someone else do it because I spend hours doing it and I feel so bad for Eponine because she has to stand there for so long so I can do it.

I band for so a teams show jumping competition as i can take plaits out when i jump lol so it gets annoying if you spend loads of time sewing then go take a few out over the first jump I sew for showing, (but not for little local pony club shows) as i like the look and i'm not that bad at it lol. For a dressage event i sew or if i get the chance to borrow my friends Isabell Werth dressage saddle (!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want a nice tidy look go for sewing, once you get the hang of it (loads of pratice!) you should be able to go faster and still be tidy
