Question Dyeing Tack....anyone done it?

This is my first February show in over 4 years that I get to ride a mare! I am totally going all out for Valentine's Day but it is a real PIA to find pink tack that is not that gaudy neon color. I found a pad I really like and think I am just going to buy white boots and dye them. Has anyone ever done this and how successful has it been? I would hate to buy $80 boots only to have them become practice boots for Kennicke.

I dont know about the boots, but you could buy a white wool blanket or white w/e and dye it and it would prolly turn out really good. And since it's white you might be able to bleach it back to white when your done!

I've dyed a saddle black. It worked very well you can't tell that it's dyed! 8 years later the dye is starting to rub off. That's sound so cool what your doing! Be sure to take pic. and show us!

That is exactly what I am looking for. I have never heard of that store before, though.

Stephanie, what brand did you use? I don't think you can lighten a saddle's color, can you?
