90% of the foalings that I have watched, or been present for, were assisted, you only pull when the mare is pushing, even though it looks like they are dragging the foal out, they are not really pulling that hard...just holding on to the foal, to keep the foaling progress going....that mare was pushing hard and contracting fast...great birth!

I've seen this before Cathy, as well However, the lady almost fell on her butt at one time because she was pulling so hard.

what was the lady doing to the umbilical cord? Er... I think that was an unbilical cord.

Lol, Dustin just stopped watching Bear in the Big Blue house to watch the birth of a horse and smiled and said "Wow, how cool" I'm scared now...
They have to dip the umbilical cord in iodine right away (as soon as it breaks) to prevent infection to the foal...

Ahhhh, I see. I was little when my grandparents had their broodmares. I have a lot of research to do

Man I keep missin them. What a cute baby, I guess a healthy baby is ok, even though I didn't get to watch.

That's what I get for doing something else for a couple of days, who needs a new horse anyway. Horse shopping, I should hire somebody to do that so that I can watch babies being born. Ha ha
