Post dressage help

hello,
i know almost everything about horses. i just got my new horse 3yrs ago after my mare had to be put down off old age. My new horse which we rescued from Cornell University is a high school dressage horse. He knows it all. The only problem is i don't know how to ride dressage. I've got my all purpose saddle. I really need a trainer to help me. So if anyone in Ithaca area Ny would help teach me how to ride dressage..reply please..

If the mare is that well trained in dressage, the likelyhood that she'll respond to incorrect cues is very low. She'll know what means what, and if it's incorrect, you're probably asking her for something different altogether.

You just completely agreed with what I was saying through that post. The horse did not do a shoulder-in because that's not what the rider asked for. The rider asked for a canter (unknowingly) and that's what the horse did. Exact same thing that I said.

on the subject of push button horses or schoolmasters I would not buy one for a rider that is not experianced in dressage.I think its wonderful for a person to ride one every now and then to feel what the other horse should feel like and how they move but if you do get a dressage horse get one that is trained but not a push button. my veiws are thatif you get a push button horse and excel in that horse alone and call yourself a trainer or true dressage rider than you are just fooling yourself.

i am not saying that this is a bad way to go and if you choose this than that is fine it is just my opinion.Just I would not recoend it. Just for training your self too ya know?
Besides a bit of a chalenge can befun espessially whenyou do something on that horse that youve been trying for ever. Its just a satisfaction thing you know
well good luck. Oh and listen to what your instructor says to do Dressage truly is a disipline it takes a level of concentation and a good connection with the horse .

Im not saying that your horse is not good im saying thats my opinion on those sort of horses. Im not criticizing you either. Im simply saying that its more of a you grow together thing.
I love those horses Ive preformed on one, full brother to Favorite Trick if you know him.

But on Noel I feel so much better when I get her to do something that she wouldnt do before.
I think thats really cool and I did say that if you wanted to do that then fine I wouldnt mind I am not here to bug you lets look at that again
