On Training test 3: B turn right A Circle right 20M developing right lead canter, first quarter of circle Is that somehow different then "Between B and ??" Help!? BTW...I've not tried this test yet, just reading for the first time- we show it in less then 2 weeks. Um...I'm screwed. LOL |

That's really odd. And a pretty strange test I might add. It seems like you're doing two cantering circles to the right, one at X and one at A. The only difference I could think they would want in the first quater of the circle is more canter. Pick up your horse more and push them more into the canter. But that's just my interpretation. werid test. Good Luck!

Strange wording - but it can only mean that between A and half way between A and Center line, keeping to the line of the 20m circle, you have to canter. Not at all as bad as it sounds! Good luck! |

Here is the test in its entirety if anyone wants to offer any more thoughts on this: A Enter WOrking Trot X Halt Salute C Track Left E Turn Left X Circle Left 20m X Circle Right 20m B Turn Right A Circle right developing right lead canter first quarter of circle E-B Half Cicle 20m, near centerline working trot B straight ahead A Medium Walk K-B Free Walk M-B Medium Walk M Working Trot C Cicle Left 20m developing left lead canter first quarter of circle E-B Half circle 20m, near centerline working trot B Straight ahead C Cicle left 20m, rising trot, allow horse to stretch forward and down (They Obviously don't know Stevey!) Before C Shorten reins E Half circle 10m to X X Straight ahead G Halt, Salute |

Okay, I just rode this test yesterday! When it says develop canter on first quater of circle, it means start the circle in trot. (get the bend, etc, just like riding a 20m circle at trot) then just shift gears into the canter. The only way its different than canter between _ and _ is you have a little more bend, like on a circle. I actually really like this test

Cowgirl. It means that between A and the next quadrant that you come to on the long side (wall) you have to pick up the right canter lead and continue on the circle. It is from between A to the first part of the long side you come to. Not between A and the centerline. Quote:

Yup...that's the right test. Very few people ride ride the third test of both Training and first levels, because they put some very screwy movements in there. You make your circles at X at the trot, then go straight from X to B. Turn right at B, in the trot. Begin your 20 m circle at A, in the trot, then pick up your canter in the first 1/4 of the circle. (In theory, this should be easy, because you have the circle to help you bend and balance. The movement is just poorly worded.) Complete the circle at A in the canter, then go straight ahead. Do a 1/2 20m circle from E to B (like you were going to ride the middle circle), and make your downward trot transition on that 1/2 circle. Continue straight down the long side in the trot, until your walk transition at A. (Repeat in the other direction!) Does that make sense? I could try to draw it out for you or talk you through it on the phone.

Thanks Roni. This would have been very helpful information to have....BEFORE I sent in my registration! LMAO!!!! Seriously tho, I think you should have to "test out" with 60%+ in all 4 tests before you move up.... Skipping tests before you move up seems silly.... I mean, if you can't master a Training Level test, how do you justify saying you are ready for 1st? I'm confuzzeled. | |
