A friend of mine used it on her 19 yr old ottb with great results. I was going to get one for my older guy as I didn't think he needed a bit, and I was going to try one on a youngster who had a hard mouth. He was not my horse though and I could not make myself by one for that price. It's a shame they are so expensive ...

I used one on my OTTB for a short period of time, he didn't like the bit at all and wasnt listening to it well. So we got the bitless bridle and he did fairly well, definitly seemed happier without the bit.

However, once I started working more on his canter, he got to enjoy the freedom TOO much, and decided bucking was a great idea. Because he could ignore the pressure! Another problem i had was getting him to give to it, i felt like i was always pulling him around, and pulling on him to stop and everything.

Eventually I got sick of fighting him in the bitless, and switched back to a snaffle. He was like a changed horse, and has done much better in it.

I think the bitless is a great idea, but its not for every horse. I read an article with Dr. Cook in it, and even he said that all horses are different, and some need different things.

to the OP, basically the bitless uses pressure all over the head. If your horse stops fairly well from pressure in a halter, i think she'll do well in it. My guy didnt do well with all the pressure from it, which i why i went back to the bit.

Good luck!
