| Senior Member+ | Double reins on Kimberwick?
Quick question... that I was just thinking about... since there are two holes plus the d-ring part thingy, can you use double reins on it? Just thought about it when I was looking at bits on the internet.

No. Kimberwicks use 1 rein, while Pelhams use 2.

You could most certainly use two reins on a kimberwick. Quite frankly I think it is a good idea. That way you could use it primarily as a snaffle and then only use the curb rein as needed. The only thing is that most times people don't use two reins because a kimberwick has such a mild curb action. Unlike a pelham which has a stronger curb action. But none-the-less it depends on what you are doing. But by all means use two reins if you like.

If you were to do it I wouldn't put both reins in both holes. Use one in a hole and the other just loose on the bit like it were a normal D ring. That way you can use one w/o any curb action and the other with.
