Don't you just hate it? You're trotting along, happy as can be and

your horse falls on his face???????

Goodness gracious! I'm at the beginning of our ride in the ring today and my boy suddenly falls on his knees and nose and cannot get up! Fortunately I stayed on (have NO idea how I did) and after a couple of tries, he got up again but golly!! It's NOT fun to suddenly have the front of your ride disappear!! Fortunately he was fine, a little shaken and spooky in that part of the ring but no injury and we went on to finish riding tonight just fine.

I just HATE when that happens!!

Yeah...try doing that at the canter. I used to ride a friend's gelding and he would do fabulous when he was paying attention but once in a while he would zone out and start getting really heavy on the forehand and dragging his front feet. I will never forget the time we were cantering along (totally even ground...absolutely nothing to stumble over) and all of a sudden I felt him going down and felt myself flying up out of the saddle. Somehow I managed to not go over his head. He was fine but I was just a wee bit shaken up.

Chase and I were schooling XC one time, and after jumping a ditch, I felt his hindend drop under and then he fell flat on his face and rolled on his side, I got off just in time and was TERRIFIED! I thought he had broken a leg, he laid there for 5 seconds that seemed like forever, with me in shock, then he got back up, and was peachy. I inspected him all over. After realizing he was fine, I got back on and kept on schooling like nothing happened! I think he scared himself as much as he scared me!
