Arrow dolly up date

the latest
Quote:
All,
Sorry for the lack of Dolly Updates, but we've been "internet poor"
for the past few days. Hopefully our internet connection will be back
up on Friday. So, I've had no way to send emails out to everyone.

Dolly is still up at New Bolton. She had a bad setback on Thursday
when she got her permanent shoes on. They put her in so much pain
that she was the worst they've seen so far in this laminitis
condition. She was rocking back on her heels, painfully shifting
between both front feet and showed another change in her left
front--more rotation. So, they immediately gave her banamine for the
pain and put her taped on shoes back on. Unfortunately, she has not
bounced back well from the setback and keeps requiring banamine now to
help manage her pain (still risking upsetting her ulcer, so we're
going to look into homeopathic pain remedies to help--***, any ideas?
You're the expert....). They were suggesting one of two surgeries for
her--either a deep digital flexor tendoscopy (very invasive) or an
inferior check ligament desmotomy (less invasive), pending the results
of today's x-rays.

I just got the results back from today's x-rays and it was mixed news.
Her left front seems to have stabilized and shows no more signs (for
now) of sinking, but her right front seems to have more rotation. The
vet that had been treating Dolly is on travel right now and this new
stand-in vet didn't seem to have a lot of time to talk, so we're
getting limited info at this time. But we're basically back into
"wait and see" mode again.

So, the plan of the hour is to go get Dolly tomorrow night, bring her
home again (she can wait here for much less than the "near-$100-a-day"
stall fee from New Bolton!) and I've been in contact with ****************(our vet). We hopefully have a "plan" for her continued
treatment. *** will continue to keep doing baseline x-rays on Dolly,
and she recommended a specialist farrier named Joe Ludford, who has
worked on very bad laminitis cases of hers in the past with great
success. So, pending his availability, *** and Joe Ludford will
hopefully be working together on her.

During the two weeks I will be gone, Dolly will go to ***'s clinic for
care and continued close monitoring, as we need to catch any clinical
changes in her condition immediately to make adjustments and have the
best chance for a successful outcome.

So, hopefully Dolly will be coming home for a brief visit before
heading to ***s at the end of the week.

Well I'm sure everyone must be having mixed feelings about what is happening. Dolly is in good hands. Thanks for the update, I've been wondering about her. I hope things start looking up for her soon.
