Dog help NOW - health/disorder/stroke? question

Hey guys, for anyone who has doggy knowledge (I know there are several of you!) My parent-in-laws older dog (between 11- 13) has suddenly, within the last hour has strangely been sticking out her tounge - like its paralized - she cant seem to operate it? Could this be a stroke or ? Its very odd... we have a call into the vet, but havent heard anything back yet. She seems to be breathing, swallowing etc normally, just cant seem to operate her tounge and get it back in her mouth....

ANy suggestions, knowledge about anything like this or??? Any help advice with someone who has experienced anything like this would be EXTREMELY welcomed - I would be eternally grateful!

Thanks

It's possible she suffered a mild stroke at that age. But it could be any number of things.

Ah yes, Defenbocia (sp) plant are poison to animals. And I think alovera (sp) can cause numbness when ingested if I remember right.
