Yup...each vet in the office has one. And they have it every time they come out.

Just curious what do they charge? How far do they have to haul to get to you?

For a farm call to get just a reg ultrasound to check for a follicle or preg it is about 100-120. They drive about 30 miles to get to me. I think that is about right. I try not to look at the bills

I know he has one, not that I am in need of one, he does haul to other mare owners, and the large tb breeding farms all the time...

No, no, and no. It is unbelieveably irritating to have to load up mare and foal just to confirm a mare is rebred.

Actually, I have to drive 40 minutes just to find a vet that will ultrasound without requiring the mare be sedated AND put in stocks. All the others want you to haul there, load your mare in their stocks, and sedate her loopy before they'll doing any reproductive work. And it's not just my girls- Ebony has been ultrasounded a million times and will happily allow it with either/or but both is excessive, especially when pregnant or with a foal at their side, IMO.

The vet that will do it that's 40 minutes away, he's okay- but he's primarily a cow vet- Hence, I'm hauling allll the way up to doublebarrs vet and will just leave my favorite mare there till she foals, is bred, and confirms back in foal.

I was fortunate that I had a awsome repro vet, would come and US 2 times a day wen we were setting up for embryo transfer so we ony had to ship at the last min for the flush of the embryo. I often got sent problem mares too and we did them at my place as I was only about 3 miles from her.
