HJ's picture of Azar does a great job at showing the difference between hers and just how far too forward yours is.

I like the above photo that has the bone drawn in as well.

The saddle on Azar looks too wide though? It actually looks like it's sitting down on top of his withers.

I'm looking for that thread. I thought that it was in Horse Chat. But I went back several days and didn't see it. Maybe it was in training.

.
You are right, it is a little to wide for him. It is sitting too low in the front, mostly due to his lack of topline in that picture. He's better now, but it's not a perfect fit.

The front edge of that front concho is the same level as the front of most western trees. It should be about 2" behind most stock horse's shoulders, 3" for gaited horses or those with big shoulder movement. Unless the tree has a lot of flare to the front of it, then you can sometimes get away with it a tad more forward. But, I'm the type "better safe than sorry!" I'd rather have the saddle far enough back to not worry about it.

Too far forward:

Better:

Good saddle placement:

That's sad. I could not find a "normal" picture searching Google Images of a godo western saddle placement, lol.
