Does this look like ringworm or something else?

I never wear my glasses to the barn but happen to have them on yesterday and noticed on my yearling filly crusty stuff all over her nose! She has had the areas on her ears for a couple of weeks but I thought she was just scratching due to the mosquitos. So this morning, I notice on my other mare her nose starting to crust up, looks like it just started as the hair has not fallen out yet nor did she have this yesterday. What is this?? HELP please!

Yearling:

Other mare just starting:

could be baby warts and she passed them to your mare.

I was just reading up on the juvinile warts and it says usually happens in horses up to 5 years old. The first horse in the pictures will be 2 in May and the 2nd one will be 4 in March. I have a weanling colt and another mare that will be 3 next year....are they probably going to get them too? I also read that you can aggitate them or put different stuff on them. This is really ugly!!!! Has anybody on here have success getting rid of them?

My 2.5yr arrived off the trailer with them from South Dakota in the beginning Aug of this year. Totally ugly but totally harmless. They are a species specific thing, so your horse can't give them to you, your dog, cat, or anything else. It's a version of the herpes virus.

Most people tell you to just leave them alone. My BO didn't like them at all, and wanted them gone ASAP, so I bought a wart freezing kit. My guy didn't mind it, but honestly it only helped the smaller ones. It acutally made the BIG one even worse, so not something that I would do again. To give you an idea, Fez (my 2y/o) still has 1 between his lip & nostril. It was the giant one that grew to be larger than a quarter, and about 1/4" high! Yeah it was big! It's nearly gone now, about the tip of my baby finger now. You just have to let them run their coarse.

There's no guarantee all your horses will get it, Fez was turned out with another 2.5y/o filly & she NEVER got it! But I think I was just lucky, as it typically runs through an entire barn of young-ins..........

Well I do have to say, even though they are UGLY as they are, I am just so very happy it's not ringworm!!! I would rather deal with something like warts that will go away on it's own then treating a whole herd of horses and barn cats for rignworm! SHEW!!!

I have read olive oil, tea tree oil, apple cider, etc will speed the process too but I may just leave them be. Again, just relieved NO RINGWORM!!!
