Does This Bit/Hack Combo Fit Him?

Does this fit him properly? should it go lower/higher? I'm going to use this on Doc for Barrels! Thanks!

It's hard to tell from pics.... I am wondering if it is wide enough for his mouth. It looks like it *might* pinch the corners of his lips right now.... but again pics can be deceiving.

Bit looks a bit low in his mouth and it also looks like the bridle can't be tightened up any. I like to see one or two winkles in the lips - but this is a gag - so with full rein pressure it will definitely jack it up into his teeth. Why the twisted wire snaffle? That's a strong headpiece - having trouble with turns?

I agree it appears the bit is sitting low, however I like to feel the inside of the mouth with the bit to be sure. Also I would push the brow band down a bit more, it appears it may be touching the ear, it might rub.. although I wonder if it is to narrow for his head and that is why it is pushed up..

Yeah the bridle can be tighten two more naches if need be. yeah doc isn't too good with he turn, but his leg is sore right now from playing with the other horses and i haven't gotten the chance to really try out the bit. I'm a really light handed rider, so i won't be crankin on the bit like some other riders do.

The bit needs to be raised. You want a horses mouth to have 2-3 wrinkles in it right about the bit (on the corner of their mouth).

The bit does look low, but you can not tell by wrinkles. Some horses will be correct with no wrinkles, and some will have 4 wrinkles. It just depends. The lower you can 'correctly' adjust it the better because if you have it cranked up in the mouth, the bit is constantly 'cueing' the lips.

From the way it is sitting though it looks like it's just hanging in his mouth though. Too low for him to be able to hold it.

The first pic does indeed make it look too narrow.

As for the height in his mouth - most of that will depend on exactly where his teeth are. But I do think it looks a wee bit low, even for those who put it low so the horse will carry it. I'd like to see it up at least 1 more hole. But, if it's not wide enough, doesn't matter - doesn't fit.
